How to Install an eSIM Manually on a Sony Device

This guide provides a step-by-step walkthrough for manually installing an eSIM on your Sony device.

Installing an eSIM Manually

Before you begin, ensure you have the following:

A strong internet connection: Ideally, connect to Wi-Fi or have a good mobile data signal.

An eSIM compatible device: If you’re unsure, refer to our List of compatible devices.

Your device is network unlocked: If you need to check, see our article on Locked/Unlocked devices.


Note: Don’t forget to turn on Data Roaming once the installation is complete.

Steps to Install

1. Open Settings and tap on Network and Internet.

2. Tap on Download a SIM instead?.

3. When prompted with Scan QR Code, tap on Need help?.

4. Select Enter it manually.

5. To manually install the eSIM, you will need your SMDP+ Address and SMDP+ Activation Code. Enter them in the format: 1$SMDP+ Address$SMDP+ Activation Code. The code should look similar to the example below.

6. Tap Download.

Note: Do NOT close this window during the installation process.

7. Allow up to 10 minutes for the eSIM to activate.

8. Once activated, go back to Settings.

9. In Settings, select Use SIM and ensure the toggle is turned On.

10. Confirm that you want to turn on the eSIM.

11. Ensure that Data Roaming is toggled On.

12. The Data Roaming toggle should appear as below on the installed eSIM.

13. Your eSIM is now successfully installed and set up!
